With Doctor Who Season Six little more than three weeks away, the promos are beginning to roll out. Click here for almost a full minute of previously embargoed footage!
There’s a lot to look forward to: the return of Alex Kingston as River Song; an American-based adventure by Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Coupling); and an episode written by Neil Gaiman (The Graveyard Book, American Gods). And though this promo says the Doctor is “coming to America – BBC America” on Saturday, April 23, he’ll be seen in Canada the same night on Space.
For further background into Steven Moffatt’s two-part premiere story, which stretches from the Utah desert to the Oval Office in 1969, click here for a special web prequel:
And for some lucky fans attending WonderCon in San Francisco this Sunday, a few more clips are promised at the Doctor Who panel and Q&A in the Esplanade Ballroom, 11:30am. Panelists will be Neil Gaiman, premiere episode guest star Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica) and director Toby Haynes (Doctor Who, Being Human). More festivities surrounding this season’s launch are sure to follow next week, and we’ll post them as soon as we are able.
Our DVD strategy will be a bit different this year. We will still release the complete season box set near the end of the year, but we’ll also be releasing moderately priced DVDs that follow the broadcasts more swiftly. Sign up here for First to Know.

Wait, Does this mean that A Christmas Carol will be a part of the complete series set or not?
just can’t get enough of Stephen Moffat but with him doing both sherlock and doctor who, it’s a long wait to find out what’s happening next – any chance of getting more episodes per season (REMEMBER THE 70S WHEN THERE WERE 13 OR WAS IT 26?)
It was 26 near half hour shows during the 1970s. With the exception of Tom Baker’s final seeason which was 28 shows.
I’m looking forward to new Who. Moffat says there will be all new creatures this year. Let’s see how it’ll hold up considering it’s difficult not to use Daleks in a return appearance.
Matt Smith is becoming my favorite Doctor for the new series as he is a genuine throwback to the old days of Doctor Who. Though Tom Baker still remains my favorite actor of all time.
Here in Okla. U.S.A.,Tom Baker was my first Doctor.circa 1979-80ish .I was the only one I ever met in Ok.that watched it.Now my son ,12, and me are still the only ones that watch it that I have met. For years my Husband thought I made the Doctor up. Thank you B.B.C.America.
Been a Doctor Who fan since day one. Where is Galifrae anyway?
DOCTOR WHO IS PROBABLY THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION!!!!!!
THE WRITING IS EXCELLENT, THE ACTORS ARE ALL EXCELLENT, THE PRODUCTION IS EXCELLENT!
I grew up watching British comedies & dramas at my house in the 1970’s. Upstairs & Downstairs was a favorite of my mom’s. My father got me hooked on Benny Hill, Monty Python, & Dr. Who.
My favorite Doctor was Tom Baker, than SyFy Channel brought back the wonderful, quirky Doctor to TV in Christopher Eccleston’s portrayal.
I got my husband & son hooked on the new versions w/ me. We enjoyed watching as a family. Now I can’t get the new season since my cable co doesn’t carry BBC America. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch it on 1 of the loacal PBS stations like in the old days.
Keep up the good work guys!!
