Jean Marsh was born in London in 1934. She spent several years on Broadway; when she returned to England, she was cast in a variety of TV roles. In 1971, along with Eileen Atkins, she created Upstairs, Downstairs. Marsh plays housemaid Rose, a role that made her a household name and won her a Best Actress Emmy.
