Last Of The Summer Wine

Last of the Summer Wine is the longest-running situation comedy in history, with just under 30 series as of this moment. It was also the career start for Roy Clarke, later the inventor of Keeping Up Appearances, who created it as a submission for BBC's pilot program Comedy Playhouse back in 1973. Over time, while the cast has changed dramatically, this whimsical comedy about three elderly friends tramping around the Yorkshire countryside has maintained its place in the British imagination. Among the present cast members are Peter Salis (best known in America as the voice of Wallace of Wallace and Gromit fame) and Frank Thornton (aka Colonel Peacock from Are You Being Served?).
