Before Nick and Nora Charles, before Jonathan and Jennifer Hart—Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, the crime-solving couple created in the 1920s by Agatha Christie, set the gold standard for mixing marriage and mystery. Elegantly attired in stunning period outfits, the fun-loving and flirtatious couple thrive on matching wits with criminals and with each other. This collection of episodes from the popular TV series chronicles their partnership from its beginnings in The Secret Adversary through their days as Partners in Crime and proprietors of Blunt’s Detective Agency. Starring British TV veterans Francesca Annis (Reckless) and James Warwick (The Onedin Line).

The Secret Adversary - Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley meet again by chance in London just after the end of the first World War. Looking for work and longing for a bit of excitement, they stumble into the middle of the search for a secret document spirited off the sinking Lusitania. Hired by the British secret service to find the document before it can do irreparable harm to the British government, Tommy and Tuppence find adventure galore and discover how much they mean to each other.

The Affair of the Pink Pearl - Bored by their comfortable but dull life, Tuppence is thrilled to learn that Tommy has taken over a defunct detective agency and eagerly helps him set up shop. With business off to a slow start, Tuppence concocts a PR gambit. It succeeds brilliantly and soon T&T are on to a real case involving the theft of a valuable pearl.

The House of Lurking Death - The young new mistress of Thurley Grange, fearing someone in the house is trying to kill her, hires Tommy and Tuppence to investigate. Death does indeed visit the grim old house, leaving T&T to find the culprit from an array of unlikely suspects.

Finessing the King - Intrigued by a coded message in a newspaper personal column suggesting a rendezvous after an upcoming masked ball, Tommy and Tuppence attend the ball and go on to the romantic café they suspect is the rendezvous spot. Their intuition about the message is proven accurate, but a new mystery surfaces when the lovers’ meeting turns deadly.

The Clergyman’s Daughter - The death of her wealthy aunt seems to be the salvation of a young woman whose clergyman father has died and left her destitute. But the aunt’s fortune has vanished and her large country house appears haunted, making it unfit for paying guests. When the young woman turns to Blunt’s Detective Agency for help, T&T go undercover to rout the poltergeists and dig for gold.
