London bookshop owner Bernard Black has an interesting philosophy: the customer is always wrong. His anti-social, heavy drinking, chain-smoking approach may repel bookbuyers, but it attracts laughter from cover to cover. With stressed-out co-worker Manny (Bill Bailey), Bernard's booze, and the assistance/distraction of neighboring storeowner Fran (Tamsin Greig), Black Books will keep you laughing with surreal insanity and sight gags. This offbeat comedy series from the Father Ted team of Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan won a 2001 BAFTA® Award for its quirky originality and tipsy approach to comedy.
