Welcome back to Market Shipborough, a small English town with decidedly eccentric citizens who turn to Peter Kingdom (Stephen Fry, Jeeves & Wooster, BlackAdder) for help with all their legal and personal problems. Peter, a kind-hearted solicitor, warms your heart and makes you laugh as he takes on the trials of humanity, from trespassing Druids and mysterious crop circles, to ill-behaved aristocrats. Episode 1
Peter helps a young man, recently back from Iraq, seek compensation from the army for his injuries, while Lyle helps a young women fight sexual discrimination from the same army unit. Gloria and Beatrice both deal with family. Gloria with her demanding father, and Beatrice by coming to terms with motherhood.

Episode 2
The local sci-fi community get excited when crop circles start showing up around Market Shipborough, but how is this connected to the series of pub quiz Peter has organised. Meanwhile Lyle develops an attraction to the opposing counsel on his current case.

Episode 3
Peter tries to help a mother and daughter, on separate sides of the animal testing debate, find common ground, but finds there is more to the story than that. At the same time he tries to live down Beatrice earning money by operating a sex line out of his office.

Episode 4
Peter has problems keeping his newest client out of trouble, and the connection Beatrice has with the judge on the case doesn't make it any easier. At the same time Lyle gets to know the local druid community a little better, while trying to settle a dispute between them and the local golf club.

Episode 5
Lyle has to travel to Stockport to answer his mother's call for help: The council want to build new houses on some allotments and she intends to stop them.To make matters worse for the young lawyer, his twin brothers are arrested after doing a protest of their own.
Back in Market Shipborough, Peter Kingdom has to contend with the new CCTV cameras that have popped up all over town, and his Aunt Auriel ropes him in to help find a new housekeeper.

Episode 6
When a duke starts selling his titles on eBay his estranged brother seeks out Peter to ask for his help - thinking the man is doing it to fund a drug habit.
Having previously collapsed after feeling unwell, Peter makes a trip to his doctor for test, resulting in the doctor wanting to run more tests. Gloria, meanwhile, frets about how to tell Peter about the birth certificate she discovered up in the attic... Does it have anything to do with his current state of health?
