What could possibly make an affair with a double-murder suspect seem like a good idea? Meet ambitious but reckless Clare Blake (Amanda Burton, Silent Witness), New Scotland Yard's highest ranking female officer. In this compelling, gritty series from the creator of Prime Suspect, Clare defies convention, risks her reputation and always lets her personal life bleed into her career. Thankfully, her unorthodox methods never fail to reward viewers with thrilling, suspenseful mysteries.

Episode 1: Entrapment - Newly promoted, Commander Clare Blake vows no cover-ups. At the same time, DCI Hedges conceals evidence of his involvement in the police shooting of an unarmed civilian, Lionel Cripps. Blake looks into the Cripps matter but is soon distracted by the handsome James Lampton. A convicted murderer just out of prison, where Blake put him 12 years ago, he persuades her that he's rehabilitated and charms her into an affair. Then a young nurse is found strangled with her own bra-Lampton's MO. While Blake stews in hot water, Hedges couldn't be happier: if Lampton goes down, so does Blake.

Episode 2: Virus - Commander Clare Blake is in trouble. Her relationship with convicted killer James Lampton made the tabloids, and her supervisors are not amused. Her sister has cancer and has moved into her flat. She's being stalked by a schizophrenic woman with an axe to grind and a sharp pair of scissors in her pocket. To top it all off, a murderous hacker breaks into hospital computers and alters medical records with fatal consequences. As patients keep dying, one family demands compensation-or is it blackmail?

Episode 3: Blackdog - Patient and persistent, Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Blackton has earned his nickname, "Blackdog." On the orders of the police brass, he begins investigating the Cripps shooting and the Lampton affair. Both Blake and Hedges feel the squeeze. Suffering from panic attacks and grieving the death of a family member, Blake reluctantly agrees to show a united front with Hedges. As Blackton closes in on the evidence he needs to end her career, can she recover her nerves of steel in time to prevent him?

Episode 4: Blacklight - A young woman disappears from a nightclub, and a mental patient escapes from a hospital. Hours later, the two are found together covered in her blood. She's been stabbed to death, and his fingerprints are all over the murder weapon. It seems like a cut and dried case except for a few details: the girl is Commander Blake's goddaughter, and the patient could not have killed her. When rumpled Dutch detective Van Hauten arrives with details of similar murders in Amsterdam, DCI Hedges brushes him off. But that doesn't stop the killing.
