1965: Twelve children are gathered together on a deserted hilltop, before being surrounded by a harsh, bright light... and then they are gone!
Today: All over Earth, children stop moving. Stop playing. Stop laughing. Stop everything. Then, as one, they begin to speak with the same voice, announcing to the governments of the world the imminent arrival of a new alien threat. "We Are Coming, We Are Coming..."
As the British Government closes ranks, it issues a death warrant against Captain Jack and Torchwood. Now forced to flee for their lives, it becomes clear to the Torchwood team that this isn't the aliens' first visit to Earth, and a terrible price is going to be paid for sins of the past...

Day One - An ordinary day becomes one of terror, as every single child in the world stops and delivers a message to all the governments of Earth: "We are coming." As a trap closes around Captain Jack, the sins of the past are returning and long-forgotten events threaten to reveal an awful truth. Captain Jack, Gwen and Ianto are helpless as events escalate to such a degree that mankind faces the end of civilization itself.
Day Two - As the new Torchwood adventure continues, members of the team are hunted down, Britain risks becoming a rogue state, and only one person holds the key to Torchwood's salvation.
Day Three - The eyes of the world turn to Britain and members of Torchwood must battle to protect their own families, as the fight gets personal.
Day Four - Torchwood finally learns the truth and everything now pivots around one man. Old allegiances are destroyed and true intentions are revealed.

Jack Harkness
The origins of Torchwood's team leader, Jack, are obscure and he likes it that way. However, he has vast practical experience of working with aliens and dealing with crisis situations. He has come through a lot of scrapes intact, and is unafraid of dangerous situations. In fact, he's usually ready with a flirtatious quip whatever the threat.
Gwen Cooper
A former police officer, Gwen brings procedural skills to the team and a sensitivity that helps them greatly in dealing with victims. She is grounded, straightforward and very determined, and in the murky world of Torchwood she often acts as the team's conscience. Her ability to co-ordinate activity has led to her being recognized as the team's deputy leader.
Ianto Jones
Ianto deals with all the team's administrative issues. His knowledge is eclectic, his attention to detail unrivalled and his ability to anticipate the team's needs before they have arisen is uncanny. He dislikes it when his remarkable efficiency is taken for granted, however, and when required, he is also more than capable of undertaking field work for the team.
What is Torchwood?
The Torchwood Institute is the name of a secret organization set up to combat alien threats to the human race. Initially founded by Queen Victoria herself, Torchwood's head office was based in the Canary Wharf tower in London's docklands. However, a devastating alien attack [shown in the Doctor Who episode 'Doomsday'] left virtually the entire staff dead, the organization without a leader, and the tiny Cardiff field office left to defend humanity on its own. Well, almost on its own...
Torchwood's small Cardiff office (known as 'The Hub') was established at the end of the 19th Century, on top of a rift in space and time. People, objects and creatures from across the Universe and from all periods of time often find themselves 'washed up' in Cardiff - and it's Torchwood's job to assess if they pose a threat to humanity, and to either capture or destroy them if they do or to take care of them if they don't. Torchwood often works in partnership with UNIT, the Unified Intelligence Taskforce - a large-scale international armed force with many decades of experience in fighting alien invasions of Earth.
